Not more than 20 years ago, there were real concerns that the North American supply of natural gas would dwindle to the point of none at all within 30 years if no changes occurred.

Then fracking happened and lots more natural gas was discovered. Also, many natural gas wells that were deemed used up began producing gas again. I haven't kept up on the reasons why, but it seems that it's not as ubiquitous as originally thought.
