Nothing wrong with being late to things if you give people a heads up first

My family is late to most things but we usually text ahead of time and let people know and tell them to start without us.

If it is an event that can't be started without us there we are always on time. If it is just a Thanksgiving dinner with extended family we will show up late and tell people to start without us.

People enable the late-comers. Set a time. Start on time. If they are late - that's their problem. Don't enable them
