In medicine. I ended up taking an employed gig with a hospital corporation
work about 50% less for about 10-20% reduction in pay... but easier days and more dedicated time off. Not that I really had too much of a choice as you're basically forced to do that in my specialty these days.

Downside is I have to bend at the knee and kiss the ring of my administration overlords which studies show over the long term leads to more burn out but guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I realize my place in the pecking order for the time being.

If I had an ounce of talent or skill set in another field I would switch careers. But I don't... and have bills to pay.

but man, burn out is real.
