He was the complete package
Elite athlete. Incredible hand eye coordination. Very cerebral player. Poise under pressure. Extreme competitor.

I have related the story before, but synopsis is he was an assistant coach at North Eugene or whatever while he played at Oregon U. When he found out I went to BYU, he got super animated talking about Singer. Most gifted athlete he ever saw in person. Played 1/3 of the defensive snaps as a senior because he wanted the experience of playing football but they didn't want him to get hurt, so the compromise was reached. He had eight interceptions iirc. My boss said it was like Ainge knew what play the other teams offense was going to run. My old boss is also a big golfer and claimed Ainge was scoring in the low 70s very soon after picking the game up. He said he never saw anything like it.
