There was still the majority of the fourth quarter to play. BYU scored a TD on the very next drive. There is no strong reason to think that would have changed if BYU had given up the TD instead of the FG. With BYU’s TD, they take the lead either way and very likely win. Of corse the rest of the game starts to play out different but there is not much reason to think BYU would have done anything different on the very next drive. Hawaii was getting dominated and really only scored much due to flukish plays.
