But it is overly romanticized as having “saved the 1984 NC season”, when in reality it very likely did NOT do that. BYU very likely wins the game regardless. I don’t want to give the impression it was not a great play though. I think it is worthy of consideration in BYU’s top 10-15 plays or so all time, due to the uniqueness of the play and the fact that it likely helped keep points off the board for Hawaii which had a hand in helping that game, which was part of the NC season.
