Tuiaki has been top 50 in total defense 3 out of 6 years. 2017 was 51st.
If this is true and we lost a ton of production because guys wanted to give a shot at the next level, thus depleting the depth. Then a good part of our starters get injured during 2021. I think most teams in college football would struggle with that scenario.
Not apologizing for Tuiaki, but please don't pretend like there weren't some legitimate reasons for some of the struggles on D this year.
All that being said, I have learned a few things about Tuiaki recently that, believe it or not, make me like him and his scheme much less than I used to, which wasn't very much to begin with. I would love to upgrade if we can, I just don't think his stats justify his firing yet.
