I'm not sure why. This is the world our kids and grandkids will be moving into, where wages have stagnated while housing, college, and medical costs have risen to alarming heights. If someone is struggling with a low wage job, the answer is "go to college." If they go to college and have lots of student loan debt--something increasingly necessary compared to previous generations--there's mocking of that, too.
This study shows that half of all workers earn a sum so little they'd struggle to pay rent or make a car payment, let alone start a family. Maybe if they have two wage earners, but then how do they pay for daycare? That's averaging $1,300 a month (of post-tax wages, of course) in the U.S. Per child.
None of this seems sustainable, and is going to lead to class resentment and the kind of voting for policies that someone with a user name taken from an Ayn Rand novel is unlikely to be happy with.
