I’ve generally viewed these priorities as counterproductive, even contradictory to progressives’ traditional concern for labor.
Drastically increasing the supply of labor (which both of these priorities do) definitely does not help labor. Anything that increases the supply of labor would typically be viewed as a big favor to capital, not labor.
It’s especially interesting when you look at all the surveys showing that women report being more unhappy now, after all these workplace advances they’ve enjoyed, than they were 50 years ago.
