I don’t have data but it seems like shame only results in low self esteem and
Thinking you’re somehow less worthy and deserving of good things because you’re not perfect and make mistakes. Seems like it results in some taking their lives because they’re shamed for being who they truly are.

Why can’t we improve without being shamed? Can’t we better improve by just wanting to be the best we can be? And that making mistakes is how we learn, it doesn’t mean what we did was shameful. Most people I think respond to more positive learning.

I mean even animals learn better when you’re focusing on behaviors you want them to do, rather than being “shamed” by telling them they’re “bad” by shocking, yelling, or choking them.
