You sure? Let’s say you have 20 years left on your mortgage, and your mortgage is $500,000
Option 1.

Put $500,000 in VOO. Avg 10 year return 14.61% (last 10 years) In 20 years you will have $8,390,124

Option 2

pay off 500k mortgage and invest the non tax 0portion of your mortgage, lets say $2200 a month into VOO. Same rate of return, in 20 years you have $2,851,461.

So in that scenario paying off of $500,000 mortgage cost you $5.5 million. But I guess if it helps you sleep at night it’s worth it!!!! Not so sure…

Even if your return on the market was as low as 7%, it would still cost you about $900,000 to pay off your mortgage.
