Dog experts, can someone help me out?

We got a puppy on Saturday. It was definitely a spur of the moment thing, but we have him now. I just learned he's only six weeks old. I feel really bad for him because he is having separation anxiety from his litter mates. I have work all day so my wife is at home with him, and I'm curious what things we can do to help him be comforted?

We had this little plastic beating heart that seemed to help ours sleep in the crate. Put it in a stuffed animal.
