The Jazz problem is that
They don’t have a top10 player, which is what most championship caliber teams have. They’ve resigned their best two players to Max deals but neither Gobert or Mitchell is good enough to carry a team to a championship. The Jazz still have hope that Mitchell could develop into a top10 player but in my opinion it’s looking much less likely. The Jazz had no choice but to resign both to Max deals, or lose them.

all you do is hate on Gobert. Value wise, he has the most impact on wins/losses. Just look at the Jazz dreadful record without him. Gobert is fine for what he offers as a 2nd or 3rd piece on a championship team. Clearly he has very high defensive value and on the offensive end also forces a team to defend the rim or get dunked on. He just came off a year where he was top3 in rebounds and averaged 15 ppg on 71% shooting snd lead the league in ducks. That’s pretty dominant even if limited by offensive “moves.” The Jazz defensive limitations get somewhat unfairly blamed on Gobert, and I also think the Coaches ask him to try and defend two players (the paint and the corner), which is impossible.

The only other point is whether Gobert and Mitchell are compatible or complement each other? That’s debatable, so indeed it might be time to consider moving one or the other. Or just wait until the trade deadline to get a better judge.
