RE: Holy cow, I cannot believe the people that camp out for parades.
One of the problems with Disneyland compared to WDW is that there are many more locals who attend compared to at WDW. Pre-covid, I heard at DL it was 70% locals to 30% tourists on average and the opposite at WDW. Regardless, if you live nearby, you can sit on a bench or wherever for a couple of hours if the parade and maybe some snacks is all you are planning on doing for the evening. If you are there for just a few days, you want to get as much in as you can.
