He was pretty bad pre-injury
Maybe he would have been able to hang on as a practice squad guy or 3rd QB, but he just wasn't an NFL QB. Which is fine and doesn't diminish what he did at BYU.
The bigger downside was obviously the addiction and drugs and such that followed, more than any impact on his NFL career
