As long as they've been on the staff for the last 5 years for a sport with low visibility and have put together a top 12 team each season and are coming off a national championship.
As long as those requirements are met, then a non-member will be considered.
Holmoe isn't lying, but we all know football is treated a lot differently than women's cross country. And that basketball (whether men's or women's) is considered a lot more visible than women's cross country.
But maybe if the Lady Cougs basketball were also national champs, they might consider a non-member promotion from within there as well
