The first 1,000 or so we’re all millionaires on paper as they waited for their options to vest. So we were all excited about getting rich. This was the late 90s so that was even more money back then.

Then the dot com bubble burst. Options were all under water and worthless at this point and then the company started laying people off.

Even though our team was killing it they RIF’d our whole division.
My first but not last time to be laid off. Not a fun time.
