The normal box office has returned and hit some pre-pandemic numbers, but animated movies don’t really need to be seen on the big screen the same way some of the bigger blockbusters do, plus it’s just way easier to stay home and watch a kids movie then to bring a whole family to the movies. It will come out on Disney+ soon anyway.

I say this cause it underperformed like crazy (a terrible box office weekend with no excuses), but it was still the highest grossing kids movie since 2019. I wonder if that market will be slow to come back.

I think the biggest thing is that nobody asked for this movie. And the marketing doesn’t even look like a kids movie either, really. Makes it look like some animated action movie for nostalgic adults for toy story.

Also obviously affected by the other factors. Probably less than people think though.
