I pay a lot of attention to recruiting
I DM every player that commits to BYU and interview most of them.

They are kids.
They want to feel supported.
They want to feel wanted.
They want to grow their brands and land NIL deals.
They want to play football, they want to play it well, and they want to be able to play eventually in The League.

And they want to go to the school that will best help them accomplished all the aforementioned things. Sometimes that means changing commitments. Sometimes that means breaking fans hearts. What can/should fans do on social media to help them meet their goals?

It is o.k. and even a good idea to like their posts (even those where they get offers from other schools).
It is o.k. and even a good idea to comment on their posts in positive uplifting ways (things like "congrats" or "go cougs").
It is probably not a good idea for most fans to DM them.

And it is NEVER a good idea to post negative comments ANYWHERE where the recruits might read them (that includes cougarboard).

BYU is one of the best schools nationally in working the transfer portal and there are a ton of kids that BYU recruits that decide to sign with what they perceive to be bigger and more prestigious institutions. BYU brings many of those recruits back to Provo. Just look at what happened recently with reeling back in all those Orem high kids that won several state titles and then went to where they thought would be the best places for them (Washington, Oregon, Utah State, Stanford). Because of good relationships and bridges that weren't burnt they came to BYU to finish off their collegiate careers.

Take away message: Be nice to people.
