We just think the downsides to that approach outweigh their reasons for doing it. When trying to explain why someone is wrong, you have to show you understand their argument first before you refute it. He needs to say, "I get that our defense spends a lot of time on the field which makes us susceptible to injury and keeps our very efficient offense off the field. I understand that havoc rate impacts the effectiveness of offenses even if sack numbers aren't super high. But..." Then he can go on to explain why the approach they are taking fits BYU better, or is a better philosophy overall. But instead just saying "We'll prove them wrong" doesn't address the concerns of fans that understand football and doesn't do anything to eliminate frustration with that aspect of his program.
