The AC won’t work with a blown capacitor (at least that is my understanding). So, how could it have been blown for some time?!?

Possibly dumb question. Are all capacitors the same? Or do you buy specific for your system?

Not the same, but you can just look at the cap on your system and search it up

There are 2 parts to most capacitors, the start and run sides. Both can work
