This is the correct method. Then plant them 6” deeper than their native habitat
Oh and if you dig them out of the national forest the fine is huge

I have some 30 year old aspens on my side yard where the runner grow between the houses. We keep them all cut down and use chemical weed killers on the grass. They aren’t too big of an issue 10-12 per year. The biggest one is over 30’ tall and about 14” in diameter

I will have to have them all taken out eventually but they have not overgrown the yard like the firs and spruces do

As I side note I also have a 49’ lodge pole pine planted in front of them. My sone who is 33 planted if from the little trees they bring home in the paper cups in kindergarten
