Christopher would not have been happy at all with this adaptation, and based on what I've read about Simon I'm still wondering if it's just about the money for him. And the pre-series interviews with the actors make me believe this has a huge dose of modern progressive "ideals" that will be pushed down our throats like Wheel of Time. I am not very trusting now of Amazon at all after WOT, they almost destroyed it!
I'm going to watch an epi or two with the new Rings of Power, I will give it a chance. But seriously man, just ripping apart a beloved classic and adjusting it because you don't like it's not diverse enough in the books, or it doesn't fit our "modern" viewpoints is not what I'm signing up for when I immerse myself in the world of Tolkein. It's supposed to be a gateway from "OUR" world and a standalone fantasy world.
If the story rocks though and it's at least tokenish.. then I'll be pleasantly surprised.
