So a recent drive I made took me just over 9 hours. (Left at 7 PM, arrived in Provo at 5:10 AM, stopped in Vegas for food).

EVs are the future as they are more efficient energy users, safer design, and they are a ton of fun to drive, but they still have weaknesses. Outside of the increased cost these are my 3 things I don't like about an EV roadtrip.

#1 - The Superchargers choose your route, going off the beaten path to check out unique locations is not an option in most cases without incurring a major time penalty. Also, stopping because the kids/Other passengers need a break. . . This will be determined by supercharing locations.
#2 - Charging at or near your destination, it sucks to be so close and sitting in your car for 25 minutes when you would rather be with family or friends 10 minutes away. (If your host destination has good charging this is not an issue).
#3 -The price of supercharging and the price of gas are pretty close in general. The price of slow charging is far less expensive.


In the OP, note the Tesla arrives with 10% battery power. If you have charging set up at your final destination that is fine. But if you arrive with 10% power and there is no good nearby charging, then you often have to supercharge before you finally make your final destination or you will not have battery power to leave the next day.
