As I mentioned, I do think he's been a successful business mind (and particularly a disruptor)... but I do think he's not nearly as successful at this point as he previously was.

2006 he made huge investment in SolarCity... which was basically bamkrupt before being bought/saved by Tesla at huge cost to Tesla and hurting Tesla stock. 2016 he started NeuraLink, 2017 the Boring company, 2021/22 Twitter

His focus seems to have changed - he's had lots of weird romantic entanglements, poor PR, and generally less involved in his businesses and more on being a character; his past business success is undeniable, but I worry he's transformed (at some point in the last 10 years or so, not sure when) into someone who isn't focused as much on that as on generating a big headline.

2000-2008 (during his strongest period) he was married to Justine Wilson and had children (with notably normal names); overall pretty stable... and then things started getting more and more crazy
