If that's true and we also accept this linked thread that moving away from Pope going into the Big 12 is a bad idea, what does the next 5-10 years of BYU basketball look like? Go into the Big 12 with Pope and struggle for several years until enough time has passed that we can now move on from him and find a better coach? Isn't that essentially dooming the program to 5-10 years of misery while we work through a coach for several more years who isn't the answer to hopefully then find a new coach who might be the answer and give him several years to build his own program? We'll be good again in the 2030s? That's the answer?
If Pope is NOT the answer shouldn't we go find a coach who might be the answer and let him do his thing regardless of which conference BYU plays in next year?
Now the actual question every BYU fan and the administration should be asking themselves right now: Is Pope the answer? If yes, he needs to get better really quickly. If not, pull the trigger. This nonsense about needing to stay with him going into the Big 12 is foolish.
