And he's not skilled enought to be our primary PG. I think Pope agrees we need him as more of a scorer than he's played much of the season. The problem is, though — in finding & establishing the rotations & lineups that will make that work.
Those things unfortunately don't correct over the course of a game or two. And this far into the season on such a young team — they don't ever really get all that set, period. It's a problem the staff & players have to be constantly struggling with to make it work at its best. Getting everyone on the same page every game is obviously a real issue for us right now.
The one thing I do find encouraging (in contrast to last season), is that our players are all trying to play for the team & for each other. Rudi is certainly no exception to that. It can't be easy for him to see his minutes & role wax & wane as much as it has this season. But he seems to understand why it's happening; at least a bit.
