Both my friends had over 1000 and 700 respectively last year. Showed them
off all the time. Were nice cars and they loved the "lifestyle". Then tech started doing all their layoffs and tightening the noose on their sales commissions.
Guess what? They no longer drive those vehicles. I think they both drive older Honda Pilots now. I think you'll see a lot more of this in the near future.
Word to the wise - don't spend a fortune on a depreciating asset.

But if he could afford it, he made the smart decision. The $33,000 is worth way more than the $800 a month.
