Nothing else quite like it. The ‘Alliance’ was a spectacular failure with one Alliance member setting up the deal to steal USC while shaking hands on the deal. But because the dream of the PAAC is this piece of magical thinking that just won’t die, it won’t work because:
1) The ACC grant of rights
2) If Florida State, Clemson, and North Carolina figure out a way to break the ACC GOR, the B1G and SEC will take more than those 3.
3) Distance… George Kliavkoff testified before the California Board of Regents that it would cost UCLA $5 million annually in travel costs to take their teams to the Midwest and that the travel would place an unfair burden on the student athletes. Was George lying to the Board of Regents? Wrong in his facts? What has occurred in the space time continuum that mitigates distance since George testified? The Atlantic sea board is a lot further than the Midwest.
4) What, besides arrogance and desperation, makes you think that the remaining ACC schools would want anything to do with the remaining PAC schools?
5) The PAC pledge of solidarity, Harlan’s media tour, and all the rest of the PAC dog and pony show just looks like cover for Cal and Stanford until they can negotiate a better spot to land
6) The climate activists in California will sue the plan into the ground over the massive spike in unnecessary carbon emissions as the non-revenue teams take multiple cross country flights every season
7) What about playing OrSt on a Friday night on Apple+ streaming is appealing to Pitt or VaTech?
