I think the only reason they took Colorado was to try to cause instability

In the Big 12 so they could get Oklahoma and Texas. OU and Texas didn’t bite like they thought they would, so they were in scramble mode and had to find another team. They are a bunch of religious bigots so they didn’t invite BYU and asked the Utes to join.
