When I worked at a tire store in high school a big sledge hammer was the answer. Sometimes you had to hit the
back of the rim directly to knock it loose. We did everything from passenger cars to semi trucks and tractors and this was always the answer for a stuck wheel. On my own cars I've been able to use a hammer striking the rim from the backside successfully when a sledge was not available.
