Ok, I've driven that stretch. I say highway 24 is superior; however, hwy 10 & 72 from price to Loa is an underrated
Scenic route. Definitely worth an extra 35 minutes to see that bypass.

Highway 72 in and of itself is unique due to it's remoteness, there is nothing from I70 to Loa. I know Price gets a bad rap by Wasatch Front elites, but that canyon and Huntington area is gorgeous.

Another option, depending on your starting point and time is to take hwy 89 from Spanish down to Fairview then hop on over Fairview canyon and down and exit by Ferron, bypassing Price and that canyon's traffic. Very high altitude, total Colorado vibes. That might be the most underrated scenic route in the state, they call it something like "Power Road" or something. It's awesome and worth it.

Finally, I also feel I70 from Hunter exit to Cove Fort is underrated too, the Salina canyon is a blast and the area by Fremont is gorgeous.
