Not confident in the admin embracing things fully to compete at that level, but
it's fun to think of how we might do it, if they did. So as an armchair strategic consultant to BYU football, here are some massive outside the box strategic objectives BYU could pursue if they REALLY got serious:

- Make a different honor code for non-LDS athletes, one that encourages them to embrace the LDS principles, but does not require it of them to the point of jeopardizing their status as a student or athlete.

- Direct some funds from the church "for-profit" entities into an NIL collective; could even have athletes participate in church promotional campaigns

- Start a football team at BYU Idaho that competes at high level FCS, or better FBS G5, and use as a farm system for transfers into BYU (give developmental projects scholarships to the I and see how they pan out, before bringing them to the Y)

- Acquire Southern Virginia and do the same thing, creating a farm school in the Southeast

- Set up large, well funded recruiting offices around the country to identify talent.

- Start up charter high schools in hot bed recruiting areas (Texas, Florida, Ohio, LA) and staff them with well paid coaches loyal to BYU (kinda like Ty Detmer & Max Hall at American Leadership Academy in Arizona)

- Create church owned high schools in international locales like Brazil, Sub Saharan Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, etc.), Polynesian islands, Australia, New Zealand, and major metros in Europe. Staff these schools with coaches and resources in several sports (but definitely football/basketball) and have them develop kids and refer the best ones on to BYU.

- Recruit kids to these international and charter schools and provide room/board for students (soccer academy style)

- Allocate a significant budget to simply building BYU brand equity everywhere (lots of promotion, endorsement advertising, etc.)

Just a few off the top of my head....other thoughts?
