Both. But I think you missed the point. Their comments were about real Joy being through Christ. Win or lose. And they
talked about both. First girl talked about how Christ gets you through the bad times still having joy. Second girl talked about how even when she won it all as a Freshman, it was hollow.
Your chicken and the egg question is not what was asked and doesn’t have anything to do with the answer they gave.
It certainly isn’t what RH84025 was referencing.

It was “how do you maintain Joy when there is anxiety and pressure?” Not, “what’s the secret to your team winning?”
So your comment that if everyone found Joy in Christ, then no one would ever lose softball games… as though finding joy in Christ is a zero-sum game… was weird and didn’t really apply.
The question applies to everyone. The answer wasn’t almost certainly not what he was expecting… but they nailed it.

And this is a perfect example why the XII is a great fit for BYU. I can’t imagine hearing this from a PAC team.
