So if instead you told some friends you bought a new TV, it would be cool for
them to stop by when you're not around and steal it? Is that the rule? Show off something you bought and you deserve to have it stolen from you? That's a great precedent.

Two things can be true at once:

1 - it can be true that it's annoying when someone shows their flashy things.

2 - it can still simultaneously be true that it is wrong when someone steals it and the person stolen from is not at fault.
