I agree with you. Nothing wrong with your ideas. Being a Y fan keeps us humble.
You follow a sports team and cheer for them because you want them do do well. Meaning, win.

In basketball, us BYU fans understand we aren't Kentucky, Duke, or North Carolina. We hope and have expectations of
winning, but BYU basketball will never be like any of those 3 programs listed above. Still, in the Big Dance, we don't expect to get
bounced the 1st game perennially (and and if we get there). And it just seems we do. It is painful.

We all understand that BYU is not Alabama, Ohio St. or Oregon in football. We hope and have expectations in football,
but we are not and never will be Alabama or Ohio St. Just the same, as a BYU fan, there is pain and disappointment.

Like it or not. BYU fans have learned to temper their fandom with low expectations of excellence.
I have learned, being a BYU fan keeps you humble. Embrace the suck.
