Point taken. So maybe the better question is

what part of route running allows some to consistently get better separation than others? Seems to me like it's two things... better cuts, and better recognition of the defense so route adjustments (that are part of all modern offenses) are better. But I was a linebacker at a small high school, so what do I know?
