Is Jack Welsh the most damaging CEO for corporate culture and strategy ever? 25+
Yrs ago he was widely regarded the best CEO in history, and was being mimicked all across America. Fast forward to now and his strategy has directly and indirectly led to the fall of two of the most iconic companies in history (GE and Boeing), with failures from his other protégés spread throughout other companies. It’s become abundantly clear that his ability to beat quarterly earnings indefinitely was more a result of financial engineering than anything and sowed the seeds for the eventual long term collapse. 4 of Boeings last CEOs have all been his acolytes and they look to be headed down the same path.
