Unless you know what you are doing... there is no faster way to ruin your clear coat.
Every time you buff/polish you are removing a small layer of clear coat.
IMHO.. Do everything you can do to NOT need a buffer. When you need one, spend the $$ and have a pro/shop do it.

What are you using to 'hand buff'? Any polishing compound is basically sandpaper..

The Flex 3401 and Rupes Mark III's are excellent. Hard to go wrong with either.
