but the original post claimed that GS was a trash company because they had one. Reality is that nearly all public companies have them. They get adopted for a lot of reasons, but mostly because if you don't have one you expose the organization to a greater potential for liability and you have a harder time recruiting a subset of the workforce. Just because a company has one doesn't mean they won't get sued, but I guarantee you that is part of the hope when it was adopted because I've been in board meetings where that exact issue is discussed. You can roll your eyes at a DEI policy and debate whether they accomplish anything, but merely having one doesn't make a company a "trash company" these days.
