Most infield players (besides 1B) are RH. Even then, many well known first basemen are right handed. It does not matter for outfielders.

Teach him to hit left or switch hit. That's the real thing that matters.

Lefties can play plenty, including catcher…but if you have an arm they make you a pitcher. Hence no lefty catchers.
