Mind-boggling that CougarBoard members come out here and are the "no-help-bunch" dissing Coach Whiting.
Easy to put your negative fingers to a keyboard, much tougher rebuilding a major college women's basketball program.
I went to a few of the games and watched several others and I think Amber Whiting is a fabulous coach - will only get better. She proved it with those three Big 12 wins back-to-back toward the end of the season, against some good teams.
BYU only needed a couple of other pieces this year and they would have nailed it -
She dealing with serious roster turnover that has nothing to do with her - basically building a program from the ground up, in an atmosphere with a lot of unexpected uncertainty and moving parts.
And then a starting player everyone was counting on walking off the team in the middle of the season...
There have been so many instances of a school standing by a coach for 4 or 5 seasons and then the program really takes off. I'm glad BYU is behind its coach.
Unlike some of the faint-hearted on CougarBoard.
