Watch this week's Y's guys podcast with Knell and listen to the NIL segment
TLDR: Knell said there were teams they faced that had one guy on the team getting far more NIL than anyone else and that same guy was often getting out-hustled and outplayed by others on the team in games and practices. It became obvious that it created some resentment and a bad culture for those teams and there were games where guys on the other team were yapping and jawing at each other about it and that's when he and other BYU teammates knew they could win that game. They even joked about having the ROC holding up signs displaying NIL amounts of opponents to get in the heads of the highest paid players teammates.

Right now BYU has a model that keeps those pay gaps between players much tighter and pays out a bit more for veteran players. If Jax came back for 7 figures and was making twice as much or more than anyone else on the team...that probably won't go well when in the games where he goes cold. So I think if Jaxon were to shock the world and come back to BYU, it won't be because BYU was the highest bidder but because he decided it was the best fit for him and his developmental goals and long term future.
