Like San Francisco, Seattle had a strong run in basketball in the 1950s and 1960s, but its been a while since they have been competitive. Truth be told, Seattle U admin backed away from mens basketball because of allegations of paying players. That is what took the program down and it was an intentional choice by admin. Hopefully, this will reinvigorate the Seattle U program, that for 3 decades was regularly stronger than its cross town rivals at the University of Washington. Seattle U long landed the top players in the State of Washington, over the University of Washington. And, who can forget Seattle U great, Elgin Baylor who led them to the championship game in 1958 where they fell to the University of Kentucky in the title game of the NCAA tournament?
