This. And again, it's semantics. He was unable to stop Jokic, so in that sense he failed.
But he still played as good of defense as anybody in the league could've played last night with Jokic playing the way he played. If that's not a good defensive effort, then no good defensive effort exists.

The point is that when Jokic is like that, you can do everything that won you the DPOTY and still not stop him.
