It's a balancing act. Some places are better, but they cost more. How does cost
affect it? Does a run-down place really deserve 5 stars because it's so cheap? Maybe to some people. Others might rate it 2 stars despite being cheap. Does 5/5 or 10/10 mean it's the best out there, or that it's the best value (what you get for your money)?

For example, for things on Amazon, you often see varying quality. Such as electronics. Some things are objectively better (faster speed, more storage, better hardware, higher specs, etc), but you sometimes see the cheaper lower-spec items with as high of (or higher) ratings as the more expensive objectively-better items.

For houses to rent, there are other things to consider, like location and access to a pool. That kind of stuff can't be changed about that house, but it could matter to people looking for a place to stay. People value different things and may weigh some more than others would weigh them.
