One day while our parents were at work or whatnot and we were 15 or so we wanted to make our own salsa, but although we had corn chips, we realized we didn't have any of ingredients. To solve this, inspired by a recent "scavenger hunt" activity at church we went to random houses on our bikes and then told whoever answered the door that we were on a "scavenger hunt" and needed one of the following items. Our items were all quite outrageous (e.g. a pair of dirty underwear) except for the one that represented the next item we needed to make the salsa (e.g. a tomato). It worked pretty well and we got everything we needed in less than a half hour.
