Writing this on a 2011 MacBook Air I just broke out to play with- other than
being a bit slow by modern standards (only 2 Gig RAM) it works perfectly and has never been in the shop.
That said, yes, buy the warranty or use a card that will double the manufacturer warranty. If there *is* an issue, you'll want it. They price it *just* low enough to make you regret it if you don't get it.
