compared to the last 2 seasons. Last 2 seasons they pounded it into the post into Gustin.
Calvert is actually a better shooter than Gustin, but not as agile in positioning. Calvert scored occasionally in the post last season but also had a lot of awkward ineffective shots from the post. Calvert's best offensive contribution is to be able to hit an open outside jumper when the other team's big doesn't come out on her. They could try it occasionally to feed her in the post, but I don't think they can build an offense around that.
I am curious to see what offense looks like this season and if perhaps they are forced to play more aggressively to compensate for size deficiencies. So often last season they would use the full shot clock by passing around the perimeter. They were turnover prone, and if that's the case might not be the best decision to try to work the shot clock.
your last paragraph I think meant to say "Amber" not "Heather".
We at least have a lot of players to try out in the backcourt and on the wings to try to find some who can perform well this season. But for our bigs, we have a lot of question marks and little depth there. Maybe this season we will be playing a small 4 a lot - like Davenport or Cannon who actually consider themselves as guards. Ogden is also an obvious choice for minutes at the 4 spot, but offensively she is a perimeter player and not a post up player.
