It's not as simple as playing the same teams.

As many have pointed out already, a game against New Mexico in November in 2006 is more important than a game against in New Mexico in November of 2015. The difference is the meaning that game has in a fight for a conference championship. Without that, New Mexico becomes really unexciting.
